Guess Who?

What Irish cider manufacturer forked out nothing but millions on an Irish Production Company to hire a foreign DOP for a ten day shoot (that included a second unit made up of an Oscar Gold Hollywood-class Irish crew!!!)? Same crowd that apparently chopped down an orchard only to replant the trees on a barren hillside covered with fake snow. At least they shot this one in Ireland, I suppose!!! How many pint bottles of cider would you have to buy to import the DOP? More than weren’t sold this poxy summer, no doubt!!

i love the consistently bitter comments on this site about everything. keep up the good work guys.

why always the problem among small minded irish creatives about using the best people in the world to make ads?

'oh god they got the mill to do that guinness ad...they should keep the work in ireland' type of shit.

if there are world class irish people they get enough work to keep them going...so dont you worry...but why settle for bog standard to just keep it in ireland?

no wait..you're right..said cider brand should be ashamed of using a world class dop(and you can name said brand by the way..last time i checked the government weren't censoring irish blogs)

if i were bulmers/magners i'd be more worried about their lack of creative ideas in their advertising..

It's not so much the hiring of foreign crew so much as the fact that such wank is considered to make better tv. If the talent exists here (and it does in spades) why not use it and help bring on the next generation of film makers? The DOP on the second unit for this commercial was world-class. If we consistently insist on using foreign directors and crew here just because some plonky creative thinks it's going to make a lack lustre commercial look better and grow an idea, we may as well shut up shop and just accept crappy euro-ads and UK ads that have as much relevance here as a comb on Russel Brand's bedside table.
Entirely agree with the last point though.
